Software Test Engineer (Intermediate) – TS/SCI – Ft Belvoir, VA

As an intermediate Software Test Engineer you will act as the key point of contact for all quality assurance (QA) aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources.  You will be responsible to design test specifications, create a test strategy for new and existing features, and automate as many test cases as possible using a test framework or other open source test tools.  You will leverage test and development best practices, patterns, and processes within test and development teams. You will work closely with the development teams to ensure front-end, back-end, and database system meet the defined success criteria for all requirements in each release. 

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate requirements in conjunction with the Development teams to establish success criteria for each requirement/user story in a release

• Identify gaps in test coverage and perform other testing as necessary including performance, security, accessibility, and user acceptance
• Write clear, concise, descriptive bug reports and verify bug fixes
• Work and communicate effectively in an agile team environment
• Develop and maintain a suite of complex automated tests supporting code releases, migrating manual tests to automation where appropriate, and exploring other opportunities to increase automated testing
• Championing testing, effective test automation and good testing practices
• Actively supporting agile development methods and best practices
• Supporting and actively work towards test-driven development
• Helping to improve processes and procedures
• Producing clear and concise test reports and release notes when needed
• Assisting with the setting up and configuration of test environments
• Ability to show passion for software testing and quality and be a team player with high energy who thrives in an ambiguous environment

Requirements:

• Top Secret / SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree with 3-years experience
• Experience with key technologies, including operating systems, software development languages, APIs, and databases, including Linux, Java, JavaScript, Web services, Web-based applications, PostgreSQL, and Python
• Experience with implementing testing for continuous integration and deployment processes
• Ability to be comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
• Ability to triage issues, react well to changes, work with teams, and multi-task on multiple products and projects
• Ability to be results-oriented with a client focus
• Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
