Data Architect/Data Engineer, Intermediate – Fort Belvoir, VA

REQUIREMENTS:

• Active TOP SECRET/SCI
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or other related technical field, or equivalent work experience
• 5 years’ experience in data engineering
• Strong data modeling skills, ETL development, and using SQL with large data sets
• 5 years’ experience demonstrating proficiency in programming languages Python, Ruby, Shell Scripting, Scala, and Tableau.
• Experience with DevOps concepts
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Experience in statistical models and data mining algorithms

CERTIFICATIONS:

• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification and compliance upon hire
• Baseline Certifications – CCNA Security, Security+ CE, or equivalent

JOB DUTIES:

• Design, build, test, integrate, manage, and optimize data from sources identified
• Build and deploy infrastructure and architecture that enable data generation based on system architecture review
• Build free-flowing data pipelines by combining a variety of big data technologies that enable real-time analytics
• Write complex queries to ensure that data is easily acc
• Proficient in programming languages Python, Ruby, Shell Scripting and Scala
• Data modeling and ETL development
• Develop intelligent, insightful self-reporting tools
• Optimize the performance of business-critical queries and address ETL job related issues
• Perform deep dives to find root cause of variances of key forecasting parameters over a given period of time
• Enable effective decision-making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into digestible and actionable forms
• Work with managers, software developers, and data scientists to design and develop optimal data infrastructure, structures, and systems
• Plan, design, and optimize data throughout the query performance
• Design how data will be stored, accessed, used, integrated, and managed by different data regimes and digital systems
• Participate in the selection of backend database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, HPC, etc.), their configuration and utilization, and the optimization of the full data pipeline infrastructure to support the actual content, volume, ETL, and periodicity of data to support the intended kinds of queries and analysis to match expected responsiveness
